Mobile Security Card SE 1.0
Mobile Security Card VE 2.0
What is the Mobile Security Card?
The Mobile Security Card is a flash memory microSD™ card with an embedded Common Criteria EAL 5+ certified smart card chip. Its Java Card Operating System allows flexible integration of 3rd party applications. Since microSD™ slots have become a common feature in most of today’s smart phones, the Mobile Security Card is an ideal way to extend the corporate security concept to the company’s mobile devices and to protect content and network access.
The Mobile Security Card provides additional or individualized security for many kinds of mobile devices, thus enabling applications and services for mobile users that require secure authentication as well as trustworthy protection of valuable data.
No additional smart card reader necessary for portable devices
The advantage of a Secure Flash Card is, that a smart card reader for portable devices is not needed any more, because the microSD™ slot already exists in many mobile devices. For portable devices, e.g. PDAs or smartphones, the microSD™ format is the most adopted mass storage form factor.
Together with an additional adapter, miniSD and SD equipped devices are supported as well.
Driver and the new Generic Security Interface (GSI)
The secure element can be accessed via the physical SD interface using the Mobile Commerce Extension protocol (standardized by the SDA) or via file system based interfaces such as Giesecke & Devrient‘s Generic Security Interface . The drivers offer a PC/SC (or similar) interface for easy integration into smart card applications.
